DS is the premium brand of Groupe PSA. The DS marque was first announced in early 2009 by Citroën as a premium sub-brand added to certain models, with DS being an abbreviation of Different Spirit or Distinctive Series (although the reference to the historical Citroën DS is evident), to run in parallel to its mainstream cars.
The name is also a play on words, as in French it is pronounced like the word déesse, meaning goddess. Since 2014 (and since 2012 in China) the Citroën branding has been dropped from the DS line models, and DS has continued as a standalone brand.
DS Performance was developed through the motorsport division of DS Automobiles, a team of technical experts dedicated to the pursuit of sporting excellence and balanced refinement.

DS performance Formula E Car
DS Performance engineers have entirely developed the GMP powertrain (e-engine, gearbox, controller/meter) for the DSV-01. They designed the cooling system, the rear suspension and the transmission. The engine management system was developed with Magnetti Marelli. Every experience that DS Performance gets through FIA Formula E Championship, contributes to the development of electronic technologies. This division will be helping the R&D of new technologies such as Plug-in Hybrid or 100% electric vehicles.
DS Performance Line
Whatever the model, you’ll instantly recognise a DS PERFORMANCE Line car. That’s because of its
black roof, sophisticated paint colour and gloss black wheels finished with Carmine red centre caps.
The result is a car with added personality that’s even more exclusive.
Every model benefits from our latest DS technology. There’s the Mirror Screen which helps you enjoy your mobile phone’s content via the car’s touchscreen, while DS Connect Box gives access to DS connected services. DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio have standard rear parking sensors and optional reversing camera, front parking sensors and Active City Brake. DS 4 and DS 5 offer blind spot monitoring as an option and on DS 5 there’s satellite navigation and optional Lane Departure Warning system. Clever technology that’s designed to make your life simpler. Every DS PERFORMANCE Line model’s engine combines power with efficiency. All are equipped with Stop & Start and are more relaxing to drive, have lower fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions than their competitors. We’ve paid special attention to the feeling you get at the wheel. Our aim is for every DS to be exciting to drive with sure-footed handling and precise controls. This blends with a refined ride to deliver what we call ‘dynamic hypercomfort’, a sensation that makes every journey a joy.
